What is the Difference Between a Powertrain Warranty and a Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty?

One of the most stressful and exciting moments of your life is purchasing a vehicle. When you’re in the market for a new or certified used auto, you will undoubtedly be asked to consider two comprehensive warranties. Knowing the difference between powertrain and bumper-to-bumper warranty will save you some frustration as you continue on your journey.

A powertrain warranty takes care of any of the moveable parts that drive the car backward or forward. That can include the transmission, engine, and drivetrain, to name a few. It does not cover items that are considered part of the normal wear of the vehicle. They include items, such as the clutch and battery.

In a bumper-to-bumper warranty, you have many parts added from what’s included in the powertrain, which is also covered here. The heating and cooling system is an example of additional parts. The bumper-to-bumper warranty allows you the shorter time frame between the two.
